“The exhibition “Where am I going?” is Mateusz Szabłowski’s debut. The young artist presents works from the last three years. As he writes himself, it was a time of important changes in his life that inspired extensive artistic exploration. The question posed in the title of the exhibition is a pretext to understand his own path and an attempt to organize work created thus-far.

Mateusz Szabłowski: “Where do I go?” Exhibition of paintings Opening: 5th November 2021, 6.00 p.m. The exhibition is open from 5th to 11th November 11.00 a.m – 7.00 p.m. Koneser Center Kotłownia, Plac Konesera 1, Warsaw My name is Mateusz Szabłowski. I was born on August 10, 2000. I spent my childhood and youth in a village in Warmia, near Olsztyn. I have been interested in fine arts from an early age, and from grad- uation I developed my passion for painting in Warsaw. It was in the capital that I met people who inspired me and helped me find my artistic path. Currently, I am a second-year student of the Faculty of Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. The last three years have been a time of many changes in my life-moving, the beginning of my stud- ies, and a pandemic that has set a new rhythm of everyday life. These events allowed me to look at the world and myself from a different perspective, and above all, to focus on what gives me joy and fulfillment. That something is painting.

“….. In June 2019, Mateusz took entrance exams to the Faculty of Graphic Arts, taking first place on the list of admissions. The Dean of the Faculty offered Mateusz admission to part- time studies without entrance exams. Mateusz took advan- tage of this offer. A year later, Mateusz passed entrance exams and is now a second-year student. The time of a pandemic in art studies is practically a wasted time. It can be compared to a conversation between a blind person talking about colors with and a deaf describing music. Mateusz did not waste that time. He found inspiration in painting and started painting in his spare time, be it at university or at home. He would visit me with his paintings from time to time and we chatted for long hours about art, painting and his works. He works systematically and with passion, refining his workshop, experimenting, enriching his concepts and never satisfied. He became a partner in con- versation about virtually any topic. Being around him makes me feel younger. ….”
